This Just In [May. 2nd, 2007|08:37 pm]
[Tags|]

I haven't made a post in ages. Let's see if I remember how this works.

Okay, here we go.

What I've been up to lately:

Now that I think about it, perhaps Twitter or Jaiku would be better places to post... no, those are really for posting very recent events. Okay, I got distracted. Okay.

What I've been up to lately:

I've been happily easing into matrimonial domestication.... Perhaps I should be folding laundry instead of making this post.

I keep getting distracted. I'll keep this quick. Okay.

What I've been up to lately (A.K.A., things that I've found interesting):

  • Marriage (wonderfully interesting)

  • The joy of pet ownership and training (the Maltese was part of a package deal)

  • claimID (and OpenID)

  • Second Life

  • Wired Magazine

  • My job

  • Farsi (Persian) language

  • Soccer

  • After just looking at the wall over my computer desk, I've suddenly become interested in "spidercide." I like spiders! However, I like them more when they're outside of my house.

Well, that wasn't too bad. Now I just have to wait a few more months for my next post.

Or maybe not.

...and sorry, spider.

Fun with FOAF and Schemas [Sep. 7th, 2005|02:18 pm]
[Tags|, , ]

Just for fun, I tried my hand at creating a schema to use with FOAF (see FOAF Project). The result was Voice Schema, which focused on vocal depictions of a person.

Currently, I working on Audio Schema, which covers sound in general, but also currently has definitions for sound effects, music, and voice.

Art of Beverly Buchanan [May. 13th, 2005|04:30 pm]
[Tags|, , ]

Beverly Buchanan explores Southern vernacular architecture in her pastels and sculptures. From her statement:

Remembering the look and feel of structures has been a strong focus in my drawings and sculptures. My vision and interest shifted to the reality of current places and their surrounding landscape. The house and its yard and the road behind and across. Capturing the essence and something of the look and feel of now versus then is not easy. I want to continue to develop this idea now of memory versus reality. I hope that you can help me try.

GeoURL. From the GeoURL website:

GeoURL is a location-to-URL reverse directory. This will allow you to find URLs by their proximity to a given location. Find your neighbor's blog, perhaps, or the web page of the restaurants near you.

Beautiful Images of Industrial Horror [Jan. 18th, 2004|10:12 pm]
[Tags|, , , ]

The Charles Cowles Gallery presents several images of the photographic work of Edward Burtynsky in Charles Cowles Gallery: Edward Burtynsky.

Burtynsky's photographs capture stunning images of the results of industry. Quarries, oil refineries, tire piles, and tailings are among the subjects that embody the "uneasy contradiction" of modern living and the health of our environment. More information about and more photography by Edward Burtysnsky can be found at his official website, Edward Burtysnsky Photographic Works.
